Before you travel

Keep this letter with the child's own valid passport throughout the trip.
Present it to airline staff or border control if requested — it does not replace the child's travel document.
Always check the destination country's own travel requirements for minors with its authorities — "Tarkista aina alaikäistä koskevat matkustusvaatimukset kohdevaltion viranomaisilta" (Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs).
If only one guardian has custody, consider attaching a copy of the custody decision.
